Kristy Wilson is of Ngai Tahu descent. 

Raised in Hokitika, Kristy has been carving pounamu for over 28 years.

Her passion is being down the beach or up the rivers with her family and friends. Fishing, swimming and building huts with the kids, while fossicking for stones, shells, driftwood and treasures. 

Kristy recalls being 11 when she found her first piece of pounamu, then started carving when she was 16.

Taught by Stan McCallum, a well renowned jade carver and collector.

Kristy has achieved a significant amount of collaborative and solo projects thought out her career.

A personalized papal cross for pope Francis of Rome, a nifo'oti ( toothed club ) for the king of Samoa, Pendants for U,S,A Navy seals, Tiki Taane and Salmonella dub. 

Over 7 years Kristy worked closely with Sir Peter Leitch ( The Mad Butcher ) designing and crafting pendants for New Zealand rugby league teams. The NZ Warriors, the Anzacs and the 2008 world cup winners The Kiwis. 

Kristys favorite project so far was carving replica weaponry for the New Zealand Army, including a whistling torpedo, guided missile, rifle bayonet, grenades, knifes and bullets. 

Kristy enjoys the challenge of crafting something new and exciting with her hands but her greatest passion now is being a mum and a auntie.
